Let's begin with the Basilica di S. Bonifacio and S.Alessio. Located in one of the most beautiful and suggestive areas of the capital, on the Aventino hill, it is one of the most requested churches for the marriages in Rome.
The architecture of the Basilica is very typical, it presents three naves inside, while observing it from the outside, there is a remarkable contrast between the facade from 1500 and and the bell tower in romantic style. This holy place is the perfect church for marriage celebrations, also thanks to its large and rectangular garden, with a beautiful water well of 500 years ago.
The origins of the building are not clear, but it is known with certainty that it was constructed betwee the third and the fourth century.
Initially dedicated to Saint Bonifacio, the church of S.Alessio on the Aventino took its actual name thanks to this story: Alessio, the son of Eufemiano, did not want to marry the women he was proposed by the father, and for this reason he decided to run away from the building where now the church is, to go in Siria, where he lived in exile for 17 years. When he came back home, already old, nobody recongnized him, not even the father, who thought he was a pelgrim and let him stay inside the house, where Alessio spent the last days of his life. The legend says that when Alessio died, all the bells of Rome started to ring.
Given the great amount of requests, we suggest you to book the church at least one year in advance.
